Marketers : Old School Meets New School!
Many old school networkers are learning new skills from what technology is providing. Keeping a balance between some of the new ways to attract leads and old school realtionship building gives one an advantage unlike any we have had before. Voxer changed the way we communicate. No more having to call or text, just hold and talk. New apps are emerging that will blow you mind. Online training like the Academy of Online Success has good content on how to drive traffic and build a list.
One of my mentors were the first to create the funded proposal, use fax machines, 800 #s, auto-responders. He was ahead of his time.
Now we have Google Hangout, GVO Meet Cheap, many ways to expose and train others without having to rent large meeting rooms, have people travel. Don't get me wrong I believe that meetings fo have their palce and create stronger realtionships with team members and other like minded marketers.
The mere fact that this 61 year young networker who started in network marketing in 1975 is learning how to blog, create capture pages, set up aweber, use apps like Voxer, Facebook, Twitter and is an affiliate for Ray Higdon's audio's, JVZoo, Clickbank is just a sign that old school is meeting new school marketing. My Free Ebook Offer!
I was on a team call last night and heard some words of wisdom for the speakers.
"Never let a company do the marketing for you."
"When you got a momentum going, don't take your foot off the gas!"
In addition this morning I heard my dear friend Diane Hochman discuss
"Speak From The Heart."
I started to reflect on when I began in networking in 1975. My upline and her sponsor
taught me how to get out of my comfort zone. I was a shy person and what did we do.
We went out into Manhattan, and went into stores (mostly hair salons). I would say to the owner,
I am introducing a new product in this area. They would ask what it was. I would tell them it is a vitamin, mineral and herb supplement that comes in daily packets. They would say we don't sell vitamins here. I would say no I don't want you to sell it, but let me ask you a question. Do you bring your lunch to work? Did you have breakfast this morning! I would engage a conversation about their eating habits and awareness of nutritional support. I created over 100 retail customers over time.
Nowadays I find many have forgotten the old school way of networking, myself included.
We have blogging, getting traffic, attraction marketing, capture pages, splash pages, mobile apps and the list goes on and on. What is important is building relationships and as a leader having followers.
I tell others "companies, products and deals come and go but relationships last forever if built on a solid relationship."
I speak from the heart when I share my lessons, experiences, past failures, in addition to my excitement and success.
So today and the rest of this week.
Take a little bit of time and lets these settle into your spirit.
"Never let a company do the marketing for you." Be a magnet, attract like minded action takers.
"When you got a momentum going, don't take your foot off the gas!" Persistence!
"Speak From The Heart." Words are a small part of communication, tonality and physiology are major factors.

Building A Legacy!
The desire to build a legacy for me has been side tracked several times. Why? Let me explain.
When someones words turn sour, it it their words or your ears? Many times in life I have entered into a business or relationship with blinders on. After a while what seemed to be so wonderful changed, did it change or did I change. I think many of us have experienced this one or more times.
I believe there is always a plus factor in life. As our awareness grows hopefully me make better choices. For myself I came to realize that when something does not feel right or resonate well with me no matter how wonderful others are doing I have to draw the line and let go.
For the past 18 months or so, I thought I was building a legacy. In a way I was. I was rich in experience, rich in failure (lessons). Developed friendships, helped others that were not in my team. I heard story's about people with circumstances worse than mine and how these people went straight to the top of the company ranks. Wow! What was wrong with me? What was wrong with me was something did not feel right or resonate well with me and that was holding me back.
So I looked around and found something that did resonate well with me, my ethics and my desire to influence others with integrity. Now I am sure many of you are thinking, what company was he with, what he he doing now. I am not going to tell you. That is not my intention in writing this. My intention is to have you take a good look at what you want, what you like. Go within and ask yourself if what you are presently doing is an honest and ethical means to build your legacy. Is it fun, is it frustrating, are you succeeding, are you attracting others. Do you see anyone being able to do this? What does the team your working with offer? Do their teams make time for questions and answers?
Ask yourself, what causes or prevents me from sharing this with others? Do I have the skills to help others duplicate? Am I on fire with this opportunity? Can I see myself earning $100,000 or more a year with this? Can I see myself putting in 5 years of effort and having a legacy that will provide for me and my loved ones.
I ask you.
Did this blog get me thinking? Was this helpful? Am I committed to building a legacy?

Mentors & Friends
Last month I had the pleasure to become friends with an individual I met online in Linkedin.
At first it was just a friend invite, and when I accepted and he then sent me an email with a link to his business opportunity. I pointed out that he really did not know me, or know if I sell products in my practice. I waited for his responce and it was honorable. He thanked me and told me he did to me what he teaches his team members not to do. We became friends. So when I speak about building relationships sometimes those on a shaking foundation become some of the strongest connections we make.
From our conversations and emails, he was able to see my strengths and weaknesses. I learned a great deal about myself and recently he set me straight. He did not sugar coat words and told me what I needed to do or I would be in the same place or even worse next year this time. I think some may have been offended, but I embraced what he was saying to me.
A good mentor and friend will tell you the truth, even if it stings a little. So many of us walk on egg shells when dealing with friends, family, and team members. It is a breath of fresh air when someone tells it like it is. Lifes lessons can make us stronger, wiser, more powerful and productive however it depends on our point of view.
Look for friends and mentors who have your best interest at heart and are not afraid to tell you the truth. I am so grateful to this friend and mentor for being a stand up straight shooter and honored to consider him a lifelong friend.
The real wealth of our Legacy is the friendships we established while we are here.

The Lasting Gift!
Being in and out of the home based buiness since 1975 I have learned a great deal.
The times have changed and technology has grown and in many ways made things
easier for us. However I find many of the old school skills I was taught are not used
by so many of the so called leaders out there.
"Companies, products and deals come and go but relationships last forever if built on
a solid foundation." You must find out what others want and help them achieve it.
You do this with a helping hand and not a hand out. Nowadays once you sign the
distributor application and join someone many think they gave you a gift and their part
is done. This far from the truth.
Get to know them, their likes, dislikes, hobbies, develop a friendship and always
speack increase unto them. Find out what their WHY is.
Okay I will get to The Lasting Gift. Many of us get into a home based business
because of our quest for time freedom, independence, and lets not forget, we get in
to earn money, residual income. We want to leave a legacy for our family and loved ones.
The theem of this blog with discuss all sorts fo things dealing with home based business, training and mindset and some hints on lead generation.
Some may like and some may not like Country Music
The song in the video speaks about some old school
ways of treating others and family values.
Thanks for stopping bye,
Dr. Mike
